Is Thailand on your list of dream beach vacations? Good choice! The peninsula of Thailand is found in Southeast Asia, whereas the hundreds of islands that go along with it are found in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea.
Strangely enough, Thailand holds the ‘world’s largest’ or ‘world longest’ title in four different categories
* largest Buddha
* largest crocodile farm (yikes!)
* largest restaurant
* longest suspension bridge
See? You learn something new every day. Now, on to the beaches!
Dream Beaches Ahead
Thailand is full of quality of beaches. Which one speaks to you?
Sairee Beach - Found on the island of Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand, Sairee Beach is the longest, and most visited beach on Koh Tao. With the nickname ‘Turtle Island’, those who like underwater adventures frequently visit.
Hua Hin Beach - If you want to be on an island but don’t want to feel like you’re stranded in the middle of nowhere, check out Hua Hin Beach. It can feel more like a trendy city instead of an island getaway. People go there to retire and for weekend getaways alike.
White Sand Beach - On the island of Koh Chang, White Sand Beach is almost tropical. It’s got palms and trees, with mountains close by. With no hills, you can still swim in the water at low or high tide.
Haad Rin - Feel like cutting loose? Haad Rin is on the peninsula of Koh Phangan, and it’s where you can find the Full Moon Party that is known throughout the world. Haad Rin is like a non-stop party, so if meeting people is high up on your priority list, this is the place to be. Another cool feature is that you can catch both the sunrise and sunset by walking only a short distance!
Lamai Beach - Located in the Gulf of Thailand on the island of Ko Samui, Lamai Beach is full of opportunities. Hin Ta and Hin Yai are incredible rock formations that only nature can create. There’s a waterpark to enjoy during the day and the Lamai Night Plaza for shopping after the sun goes down.
Ko Nang Yuan - Snorkeling and diving are the driving attractions on Ko Nang Yuan. Fish, coral, sandbars are other natural points of beauty to enjoy. You’ll find breathtaking photo oportunities everywhere. Go and create your own!
Patong Beach - Located on Phuket Island, Patong Beach is quite popular! A little history tidbit: Ancient tribes used to live on the beach and there are still goodies for archeologists to find. For us common folk, it’s got plenty of fun things to do—both day and night.
Hat Pramong - Called Sunset Beach by many, it’s got—you guessed it—incredible views of the setting sun. The beach is still in great condition, so if you are looking for a calm and serene beach in which to relax and enjoy the seascape, Hat Pramong could be perfect.
Maya Beach - This is the place for Chinese New Year. Found on the island of Ko Phi Phi Lee, it is beautiful, yet crowded. The island doesn’t have any housing because of the natural treasure reserve title, so you have to stay on a nearby island. Doesn’t seem to be a problem for all those who visit!
Phra Nang Beach - Looking for an island just to relax? Phra Nang Beach is a great place to hang out with your friends. The only resort on the island doesn’t hinder the beauty at all. You can snorkel or enjoy the sand bar, floating kitchens and the food and drink that’s offered on the shore.
As with all islands, they each have their own personality and attractions. Now...Which one will you choose?
