We've been cruising! Hear from our iland co team member Chelsea about her latest cruise experience and fashion advice.
As a first-time cruiser, I can say for certain, what a fun holiday. Lounging by the pool soaking up the sun, a day spent at Moreton Island snorkeling, just being carefree and relaxed - it's a fun and easy way to holiday. On a short 4-day cruise like mine, I really wanted to pack light and take pieces I knew I would wear and didn't have to think about. So, I thought I'd throw a couple of iland co kimonos in as options I could wear day or night, by the deck or at dinner.
My go to piece to wear on this cruise was the lovely kimono jacket in tuscany print. I love this as a cruise essential because a) it takes up to no space in your luggage and b) No ironing required.
I wore this whilst lounging on a deck chair by the pool and could easily wear it inside listening to a live band whilst having a cocktail. It really does make you feel glammed up but seriously so easy to throw over and feel dressy and laidback at the same time. I paired it with black basics like a t-shirt or dress or a black jumpsuit.
Extra Tip - First time cruisers, don't forget a lanyard. Your cruise card is something you need to carry on whilst cruising - to get on board, spending, to leave on port days.
Of course, I shared the kimono love with my Mum who is wearing the gorgeous Aurora Kimono. She loved this kimono because it's just so unique and brings a beautiful pop of colour. She could wear this no matter what we were doing, without having to go back to the room and change. It gives off a chic summer vibe in line with the cruise atmosphere. Plus, it was handy to wear on breezy days as well as sunny ones to keep covered up.
Bonus tip - Don't forget a bag for your shore day. An oversized beach bag if you plan on taking it slow or perhaps a backpack or drink bottle side bag if you're more on the go. A beach towel if you plan on swimming as well.
