Today we wanted to tell you about another hot spot on iland co’s. very own doorstep and perhaps the jewel in the crown of our beautiful Central Coast region.
Terrigal Beach, located smack bang in the middle of the coast. A cruisy 1 hours drive from Sydney. This thriving holiday beach town has everything you need for the ultimate weekend getaway. The town sits right on picturesque Terrigal Beach which is typically calm year-round making it great for swimming and paddleboarding with the kids or for the avid surfers, there are plenty of waves around for you too.
Stay at the Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific which is located right across from the golden sands of the beach, most of the bright and breezy guest rooms come with views out to the ocean and beyond. This 4.5-star property is in heart of town and comes with all the offerings you’d expect from a top resort including their scrumptious breakfast buffet, fine dining restaurant Seasalt, 24-hour room service, Endota day spa, gym, pool deck, Lord Ashley cocktail lounge and their famous Florida Beach Bar, aka "The Beery" to soak up the sunny afternoons and sea breezes or for a lazy Sunday session.
Spend your morning exploring the many boutiques in town before hitting Cove Cafe for lunch, located just over the headland at The Haven and a short walk from town. This ideally located fully licensed cafe has stunning views right back across Terrigal and Wamberal and serves up an array of tasty offerings. The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch or for a more fine dining experience head upstairs to Reef Restaurant for a decadent long lunch or fancy dinner with the same views to match.
If you’re after some nightlife then Terrigal is where the locals from near and far come out to play. Start at Mumbo Jumbo’s Beachhouse for the ultimate Caribbean rum shack experience. Their Jamaican inspired menu and colourful, quirky rooftop setting will transport you to another world as you take in the sunset while sipping on your mojito.
Mix it up and finish your night at Pocket Bar poring over their extensive and modern cocktail menu and devouring their late-night bar snacks into the wee hours. This ultra-hip New York City-inspired bar oozes all the chilled vibes in a cosy, intimate setting that feels so homely that you'll find difficult to leave at closing time!
For the adventure seekers, there are some great diving sites just off the coast including the Ex-HMAS Adelaide which was scuttled just 1.4 kms off the Terrigal Skillion. The former Australian naval warship was purposely sunk in 2011 to create an artificial dive reef and is thriving with an abundance of marine life. The shipwreck is suitable for all levels of divers and experience. Whilst you're out on the water, try and spot some majestic Humpback or Southern Right whales who frequent the coast during their migration from May through to October.
If your visit coincides with the 4th Sunday of the month then you absolutely must make a visit to the Avoca Market in the neighbouring town and also super popular holiday hot spot, Avoca Beach. This wonderfully colourful beachfront market has over 120 store holders ranging from high-quality artisan pieces, jewellery and clothing from local creatives, fresh produce, international food stalls and the best live local talent the coast has to offer on the Fairplay Stage. You could easily spend all day at this family (and pooch) friendly event just soaking up the good vibes and chilled atmosphere.
With beaches for days, whale watching tours, fishing, national parks and walking trails all at your fingertips you’d certainly have a hard time trying to fit all that Terrigal has to offer into one weekend but being so close to Sydney you could easily pop up time and time again. We have no doubt you’d love it here just as much as we do!
Our super cute linen range will do just nicely for a day at the markets or exploring the boutiques in town. Our floaty pieces like our Hot Tropics Dusk Print Kimono would work in just perfectly in this chilled-out coastal haven. The versatility of our resort pieces work just as well for a day on the beach as they do into the evening enjoying dinner and drinks with your friends.
