Let’s face it: A great looking bikini can make you feel confident and powerful. A bikini that does all the wrong things to your body when you put it on can pretty much make you feel like you shouldn’t even be thinking about wearing a bikini.
Holidays are all about being able to let go, feeling rejuvenated and carefree. You’ve got an incredible looking kimono fluttering in the breeze around you, but it’s difficult to feel good about yourself if you’re concerned about how you look in your bikini.
Most women have been there at least once in their lives. Yes, there are those women who look good in anything and everything, but those are far and few between.
If you really want to rock the bikini that was meant for you, then stick around. The key to bikini success is to find the right one that flatters your body type so you can actually look in the mirror and be impressed!
It’s All About the Bust
If you have a bigger bust, support is a must! An underwire might end up being your best friend. Luckily, there are styles now that hide the underwire a bit so that it’s not so obvious you’re wearing one. Unfortunately, string bikinis won’t do you any favors; choose tops that have more—and sturdier—material for the straps.
If you’re lacking fullness, then you want to go in the opposite direction. You might want to choose bikinis that have extra fullness to them or a little padding. Ruffles, fringe, anything that can add bulk. Of course, if you’re not worried about that part, string bikinis can be great since they offer only light support.
What Fruit Are You?
It’s not most flattering of terminology, but many women are fruit shaped: apple or pear. Let’s dive into each category.
- You’re an apple if you’re heavier, bigger or broader on the top than the bottom. You might have an issue with extra weight around your stomach.
- Bikinis that flatter your apple body type will help your top look narrower. If you always feel that you’re top-heavy, then try plunging necklines, like a v-neck and scoop. The more skin, the better!
- You’re a pear if you’re heavy on the bottom, with wider hips and thighs.
- You want to choose the type of bikini bottoms strategically for your pear body type. You might want to go with ones with more material such as boyshorts or briefs. Draw people’s attention away from your bottom half by accentuating to the top with colorful prints.
Still Not Sure?
No matter what kind of shape you’re in, you can still own whatever bikini you choose. Remember, you make the bikini, not the other way around.
If you’re just not the type to feel comfortable in a bikini no matter how good you look in it, but you still want to wear one, a fashionable way to do that is with a beautiful kimono or kaftan to help you feel less self-conscious. It’ll show off your bikini as little or as much as you desire and you can feel comfortable with a little more modesty.
Your bikini is out there waiting for you. The beach is waiting!
